🏔️ Mount Kilimanjaro

Lemosho Route (The "Premium" Route)
Widely considered the most scenic route, Lemosho approaches from the west through lush rainforest before crossing the expansive Shira Plateau. It offers an excellent "walk high, sleep low" profile, leading to the highest success rates for reaching Uhuru Peak.
Days: 7–8 Days

Machame Route (The "Whiskey" Route)
This is the most popular path, offering a thrilling challenge with spectacular views of the Barranco Wall. It is physically demanding but incredibly rewarding, transitioning through five distinct climate zones in a relatively short time.
Days: 6–7 Days

Marangu Route (The "Coca-Cola" Route)
The classic and oldest route on the mountain. It is unique because it offers permanent hut accommodations (Mandara, Horombo, and Kibo) instead of camping. While it has a reputation for being "easy," its short duration requires strong natural acclimatization.
🌋 Mount Meru and 🔥 Ol Doinyo Lengai

The Momella Route
As the only official route up Tanzania's second-highest peak, the Momella route starts in Arusha National Park. You'll hike alongside an armed ranger past buffalo and giraffes on Day 1, followed by a dramatic and narrow ridge walk to Socialist Peak for a sunrise view of Kilimanjaro.
Days: 4 Days

The "Mountain of God" Trek
This is a steep, intense ascent of the world's only active carbonatite volcano. Most of the 6-hour climb happens at night to reach the crater at dawn. It is a raw, "uncensored" experience where you can see glowing lava and look down onto the shimmering salt flats of Lake Natron.
Days: 3 Days (2 Nights)

7-Day Mount Kilimanjaro Climb
The 7-day Rongai Route is a quieter way to climb Mount Kilimanjaro from the north. It features diverse landscapes and culminates in a sunrise at Uhuru Peak, Africa’s highest point. Ideal for adventure and acclimatization, it offers unforgettable views.

Frequently Ask Question
Planning a climbing expedition in Tanzania? This guide covers key details about trekking times, gear, acclimatization, and safety for an unforgettable adventure on peaks like Mount Kilimanjaro.
1. When is the best time to climb?
The best conditions are during the dry seasons: January to mid-March (clear skies and warmer) and June to October (cooler but very dry). While climbing is possible year-round, we recommend avoiding the long rains in April and May when trails become slippery and visibility is low.
2. How fit do I need to be?
You don’t need to be an athlete, but a good level of cardiovascular fitness is essential. We recommend training for 2–3 months before your trip with hiking, stair climbing, and strength training. Kilimanjaro is a “walkable” mountain (no technical climbing), while Ol Doinyo Lengai requires more agility due to its steep, ash-covered slopes.
3.What about altitude sickness?
Altitude sickness (AMS) can affect anyone regardless of fitness level. To minimize risk, we focus on:
“Pole Pole” (Slowly, Slowly): We maintain a steady, slow pace to help your body adapt.
Hydration: Drinking 4–5 liters of water daily is crucial.
Health Checks: Our guides perform twice-daily pulse and oxygen level checks.
Acclimatization: Choosing longer routes (like 7 or 8 days) significantly increases your summit success rate.
4. What should I pack?
While we provide high-quality tents and mattresses, you will need personal gear, including:
Worn-in waterproof hiking boots.
Moisture-wicking base layers (no cotton).
A heavy down jacket and hardshell waterproof jacket.
Headlamp with extra batteries for summit night.
A 30L daypack for your essentials.
5. Is tipping mandatory?
Tipping is a well-established tradition in the Tanzanian trekking industry and is a vital way to show appreciation for your crew’s hard work. While the final amount is at your discretion, a general guideline is $200–$300 per climber for the entire group of guides, cooks, and porters.
6. 6. Do I need a visa or vaccinations?
Visa: Most travelers require a tourist visa, which can be obtained online (e-Visa) or upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO).
Vaccinations: Yellow Fever vaccination is mandatory if you are traveling from or transiting through a country with a risk of transmission. We also recommend being up-to-date on Tetanus, Typhoid, and Hepatitis A.
